pxart new

Start a frame, blank or filled with one key, in a new file or an existing one; or a file with no frames that imports a palette (--empty).

new OUT[:frame] --size WxH [--key K] [--palette P.px] [--still] new OUT --empty [--palette P.px]
usage: pxart new [-h] [--size SIZE] [--key KEY] [--palette PALETTE] [--still] [--empty]
                 [--dry-run]
                 out

new OUT[:frame] --size WxH [--key K] [--palette P.px] [--still]
  new OUT --empty [--palette P.px]
Start a frame, blank or filled with one key, in a new file or an existing one; or a file with
no frames that imports a palette (--empty).

positional arguments:
  out

options:
-h, --help show this help message and exit
--size SIZE WxH of the frame
--key KEY fill with this key (default '.')
--palette PALETTE new OUT imports this .px
--still mark the frame's group '@still GROUP'
--empty a new OUT with no frames (with --palette: only its import)
--dry-run print what the edit says and a diff of the file it would change; write nothing

A blank frame ('.'), or one filled with K, in a new file or added to an existing one
(placed like compose). --palette P.px starts a new OUT that imports P. A frame that
already exists is E_DUP_FRAME: fill it instead. --still marks its group '@still GROUP'
      (new ui.px:icons/life --still).
--empty starts a new OUT with no frames: the version line and, with --palette, its
@palette line. It is where frames --copy-to puts another file's frames against a
shared palette: 'new party.px --empty --palette palette.px', then 'frames
      keeper.px:walk --copy-to party.px --rekey'.

See also, in pxart help all: compose (OUT's palette, frame placement, E_KEY_CONFLICT,
--rekey); FORMAT: still groups (@still GROUP, @still *); EDITING (-o OUT gets the whole
file, only changed lines are rewritten, 'no change'); FORMAT: selecting frames (FILE:SEL,
  an unnamed grid's name, zsh's "${F}:sel").

pxart help all has the whole reference, pxart help TOPIC one part of it.

This is the output of pxart help new. The other editing commands and their shared notes are in pxart help EDITING.
